pydance is a dancing game written in Python, formerly named pyDDR. The
idea is simple. There’s a floor mat with arrows, and the game scrolls
arrows up the screen to the beat while playing a song. When the arrows
reach the top of the screen (not sooner and not later), the player
hits the corresponding arrow on the pad, and given that it’s hit on
time with the beat, points are scored. Based on how well the dance is
put together, s/he is graded at the end of the song. Both keyboard and
mat play are supported.
Changes: The song selector can now sort songs six different ways, and framerates were greatly improved. The game’s music now comes in Ogg Vorbis format instead of MP3. DWI2STEP and pyDDR were updated with support for 24th/64th notes and BPM changes. The STEP format and one of the themes were updated, and a few bugs were fixed.

Gentoo Linux is a versatile and fast Linux
distribution for x86, PowerPC, Sparc, and Sparc64
that’s geared towards Linux power users. Unlike
other distros, it has an advanced package
management system called Portage. Portage is a
true ports system in the tradition of BSD ports,
but is Python-based and sports a number of
advanced features including dependencies,
fine-grained package management, "fake"
(OpenBSD-style) installs, path sandboxing, safe
unmerging, system profiles, virtual packages,
config file management, and more.
Changes: This release is gcc 3.2-based, supporting optimizations for Pentium
III, Pentium 4, Athlon, Athlon XP, PowerPC G3, and PowerPC G4 with
AltiVec. It adds a 2.4.19-based high-performance kernel with IBM EVMS
support, countless enhancements to Portage, and a "live" bootable CD
that boots directly into a runtime version. It includes KDE 3.0.3, KDE
3.1-beta1, KOffice 1.2, OpenOffice 1.0.1, GNOME 2.0.1 (2.0.2 is on the
way), and Mozilla 1.0 (1.1 is available for testing). vi is now on
the installation CD.

Cool Linux CD is a bootable CD that contains a
a live Linux distribution based on RedHat 7.3. It
also includes the XFS filesystem, devfs,
IceWM, QVWM, ROX-filer, OpenOffice.org,
Opera, Mozilla, Sylpheed, Pan, Licq, X-chat,
GFTP, ppp-redialer, xmms, xine, mplayer,
gqview, LinNeighborhood, IPTraffic, VMWare,
and more.
Changes: This release adds rdesktop and NVidia 2960 drivers with autoconfigure
(manual editing of XF86Config-4 is not necessary), fixes the problem
with the DHCP client, updates hwdata to 0.44-1, and fixes the
Xconfigurator/kudzu problem with nonprintable symbols in monitor names
when autodetecting a monitor.
