Pulse relies on PHP includes to embed blocks and the blog.  This means that the target page has to end in .php in order to work.  But what if your site uses .html pages?  You have two options to get Pulse working.  The first is simply to change those files from .html to .php.  If this is not an option for you, then you can also force .html files to be parsed as PHP.  Just add this one line to your .htaccess file:

AddType application/x-httpd-php .html
